Canterbury is a gem! We are rich in the resources of community; with our many musicians, master craftsmen, volunteers, variety of skilled expertise, and history! Together we rejoice in the togetherness of our town at the Canterbury Fair, Farmers’ Markets, Town Meeting, Memorial Day and Independence Day to name a few. We are unique in having a Country Store, town green, historical center, library, volunteer and compensated emergency personnel, large amounts of conservation land in easement, agricultural opportunities, and so much more. Some have had the good fortune of being born here, others the wisdom to move here. Regardless, we are all better off for it!
Our vision is of preserving a healthy, vibrant, resilient Canterbury community; where neighbors help each other become less dependent on fossil fuel and more interdependent; where we re-learn traditions and find joy in working together to our collective betterment, while living within our ecological means. We encourage our community partners to continue to build projects that will decrease our material consumption and increase our sense of well-being, safety and community in the areas of: transportation, strengthening of our local economy, ensuring local food supplies, low energy housing, skill & resource sharing, as well as local art & culture. Join us in preserving "The Canterbury Spirit". It's what makes living in Canterbury so special. |
